The Take Me Home Project is a photo-based database maintained locally by The Dalles City Police. The project was created by the Autism Society in co-operation with the Pensacola Police Department.
Here in The Dalles, our local database is designed to assist officers during contacts with Adult/Minor members of the community who have conditions such as Autism, Dementia, Alzheimer's, Down Syndrome, or any children who have a habbit of wandering away from the home.
The program aids Law Enforcement in reuniting these members of the community with their emergency contacts by allowing immediate access to critical information concerning the enrolled individual.
Information in the database includes photographs, emergency contact information, physical description, known routines and special needs of the enrolled individual. Enrollment in the program is voluntary. Only law enforcement personnel have access to the database.
All information is kept confidential and enrollment can be withdrawn at any time.
The City of The Dalles, Oregon, is situated in the north-central part of the state on the Columbia River, the nation's second largest river. It is the county seat and the largest community in Wasco County. The Dalles is one of Oregon's most historical cities and was known earlier in its history as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. The city was first incorporated by the Oregon Territorial Government in 1857 as “Dalles City” and was made the county seat shortly thereafter.
