Description: 

The Police Department is responsible for the public safety within the city limits of the City of The Dalles.  Services include, but are not limited to, protection of life and property, the detection and apprehension of offenders, and enforcement of traffic laws and City ordinances.  The department is also responsible for patrolling The Dalles Watershed.  Non-enforcement programs include Crime Prevention, Officer in the School, Block Homes, Neighborhood Watch, Police Reserves, Police Chaplain, and a college practicum program.  The department works very closely with other law enforcement agencies in the area, as well as the Council and other City departments.
